Introduction to SQL Server 2012 / 2014 MDX

Introduction to SQL Server 2012 / 2014 MDX

Bascom Bridge’s  SQL Server 2012 MDX training teaches attendees the core techniques for using MDX with Analysis Services to deliver high-performance business intelligence solutions. This class can also be taught using SQL Server 2014 MDX.

SQL SERVER MDX TRAINING OBJECTIVES

  • Construct and execute MDX queries
  • Work with tuples and sets
  • Build calculated members
  • Work with multiple functions in a single query
  • Build complex sets to retrieve the exact data users need
  • Perform aggregation functions and navigate data hierarchies
  • Assemble time-based business metrics

SQL SERVER MDX TRAINING PREREQUISITES

All SQL Server MDX training attendees should have prior experience with SQL Server Analysis Services (working with cubes) version 2008, 2012, or 2014, or have taken Bascom Bridge’s  SSAS 2008 training class or SSAS 2012 training class.

SQL SERVER MDX TRAINING MATERIALS

All students receive a copy of Microsoft Press’s Microsoft SQL Server 2008 MDX Step by Step and related course materials.

SOFTWARE NEEDED FOR EACH PC:

  • 64-bit Windows 7 or later, or Windows Server 2008 R2 or later, with the latest service pack updates and at least 6 GB RAM
  • A full installation of SQL Server 2012 or 2014 (server and client tools), including Analysis Services, with the latest service packs applied
  • Related sample databases and lab files that Accelebrate will provide
  • If you have purchased this course, please contact us for detailed setup instructions.
  • For classes delivered online, all participants need either dual monitors or a separate device logged into the online session so that they can do their work on one screen and watch the instructor on the other. A separate computer connected to a projector or large screen TV would be another way for students to see the instructor’s screen simultaneously with working on their own.
